What is a Quince?

In this page you will find information on what a Quinceañera is, what you should expect, and the Baha’i age of maturity.

Not all Quinces are the same, and not all countries in Latin America have this tradition. Even in those countries in which the Quinceañera is a tradition, how it is celebrated varies greatly and is dependent on socioeconomics.

So many of the things mentioned in the video, are not part of our program, or they are just done a little differently ie We plan to begin on time 😉.

The Baha’i age of maturity

In the Bahai Faith, our age of maturity is 15. It is when, according to ‘Abdu’l-Baha, an individual gains the capacity to understand “the realities of things and the inner truths. Indeed, in his comprehension, his feelings, his deductions and his discoveries, every day of his life after maturity is equal to a year before it.”

He later states that, “While parents may grieve at some of the choices their children make, at the age of maturity a son or daughter is then essentially responsible for the decisions (s)he takes and becomes answerable to God accordingly. Parents should continue in every way possible to help, encourage, and guide their children, but they should recognize clearly the basic change in accountability that has occurred.”
